Precise Eye Examination

Bright Eye Clinic has a 17-step precise eye examination system and not only provides thorough vision examinations, but also check-ups for severe eye diseases. We have the highest level facilities and manpower in the country, surpassing that of university hospitals. You may experience the examination at Bright Eye Clinic, where we review the test results at least three times using various different equipment for the same test not to miss even the smallest detail.

Eye exam for vision correction

  • Manifest refraction test – refraction measurement, dominant eye test, myopia/hyperopia, astigmatism test
  • Intraocular pressure test – measures pressure inside the eye, predicting the possibility of disease
  • Corneal curvature test – measurement of the radius of curvature of the cornea
  • Corneal topography test – measurement of corneal anterior and posterior curvature, detection of corneal diseases
  • Exophthalmos test – checking for protruding eyeballs
  • Corneal endothelial cell count test – testing the number of endothelial cells
  • Visual field test – Measurement of visual field status, testing for glaucoma and visual field damage
  • Mydriasis test – evaluation of the retina of the eye through a dilated pupil
  • Medical Specialist treatment – comprehensive explanation by analyzing each test

Basic comprehensive eye examination

  • Slit lamp examination – checking the overall condition of the eye through a slit lamp
  • Corneal curvature test – measurement of visual acuity and axis of astigmatism
  • Intraocular pressure test - measuring pressure inside the eye, predicting the possibility of disease
  • Fundus examination – test to obtain information about the most important structures in the back of the eyeball like retina, macula, and optic nerve
  • Ocular tomography (macula, optic nerve) test – measures the thickness of the macula and optic nerve fiber layer of the retina to check for glaucoma and optic nerve disease
  • Manifest refraction test – tests visual acuity, pupillary reactions, extraocular movements, and calculates the optimal spherical refractive power, and finds the optimal point of correction by measuring the dominant eye and axis of astigmatism
  • Medical Specialist treatment – comprehensive explanation by analyzing each test

Advanced comprehensive eye examination

  • All examinations above plus
  • Corneal endothelial cell count test – measuring corneal endothelial degeneration and the corneal endothelial cell density
  • Pentacam corneal tomography – measures topography and elevation of the anterior and posterior corneal surface and the corneal thickness, provides a detailed analysis of the lens density, etc.
  • IOL Master ocular biometry – uses laser technology to measure the size of the eyeball, called axial length, and allows to calculate the dioptric power of the intraocular lenses
  • Wide-angle fundus examination – identifying and classifying retinal diseases such as retinal tears, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, etc.
  • DNA Test – prevents vision loss by testing for genetic corneal abnormalities

Pre-screening Information

Comprehensive eye examinations are conducted only by reservation, so please make an appointment in advance. If you are wearing glasses (including reading one), please bring them with you.

Examination Time
The examination takes about 1~2 hours, depending on the results additional examinations may be needed. After the examination (if surgery is required), the test results are valid for 6 months.

Period of wearing no lenses
While using contact lenses, corneal shape may temporarily change, so for an accurate examination contact (soft/hard) lenses shouldn’t be used for 1 to 2 weeks prior. Dream lenses should not be used for at least 4 weeks prior.

Driving
Considering that the dilation of pupils is a part of the eye examination, we would strongly recommend you not to drive but instead, use public transportation to leave our clinic and return home. Dilating eye drops cause temporary blurry vision (4-5 hours), trouble focusing on close objects, as well as extra sensitivity to bright light.

The best treatment is early diagnosis through a comprehensive eye examination.
