The Most Suitable Vision Correction Surgery for My Eyes_2
2. If Your Cornea is Too Thin or You Have Severe Myopia
We would like to provide additional explanations about lens implantation surgery, which I briefly mentioned earlier.
So far, we have mainly focused on SMILE and SMILE Pro in various posts about vision correction surgery. However, if you have conditions that make you unsuitable for SMILE or SMILE Pro surgery, lens implantation surgery can be a sufficiently effective alternative.

Lens implantation surgery is a method of correcting vision by inserting a special lens inside the eye without reshaping the cornea.
It uses lenses made from biocompatible materials and is largely divided into two types based on the placement of the lens.
(1) Anterior Chamber Lens Implantation
This method involves inserting the lens in front of the iris and directly fixing it to the iris.
It allows for precise adjustment of the astigmatism axis, making it highly effective for astigmatism correction. Additionally, it requires only a minimal incision, leading to a quick recovery. Furthermore, it can help reduce the risk of cataracts and glaucoma.
However, since there is a possibility of corneal endothelial cell loss, regular follow-up monitoring is necessary after surgery.
(2) Posterior Chamber Lens Implantation
This method involves inserting the lens between the iris and the crystalline lens, providing high stability and long-term durability.
Additionally, by using toric lenses, both astigmatism and myopia can be corrected simultaneously, making it even more effective.
Because this method does not involve corneal reshaping, it minimizes the risk of dry eye syndrome and myopic regression.
For lens implantation surgery, a precise analysis using anterior segment OCT equipment is essential. Through this analysis, the individual eye structure is carefully evaluated, making the accurate selection of the most suitable lens size extremely important.
Moreover, for a successful surgery, the skills and experience of a certified reference doctor in lens implantation surgery are absolutely necessary.
As we have explained in various posts about vision correction surgery, selecting the right vision correction method can be very difficult when making a decision based on limited information.
It is crucial to carefully check:
- How much clinical experience the surgeon has
- Whether they perform verified vision correction procedures
- Whether you can undergo safe vision correction surgery using certified equipment
For healthier and brighter vision, we recommend visiting a good eye clinic for an examination.
Thank you.
