Refractive Power Test

The eye’s refractive power refers to how much light is bent as it passes through the cornea and lens of the eye. If there is no abnormality in refractive power, light focuses accurately on the retina, allowing clear and sharp vision.

Importance of Refraction Testing

A refraction test is an examination that precisely measures the lens power needed for vision correction by analyzing the radius of curvature of the cornea. It is an important process for determining whether there are any vision abnormalities by assessing how light is refracted in the patient’s eye. During this examination, the degree of refraction in the cornea and lens is measured accurately to diagnose refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. In addition, it helps provide accurate, personalized vision correction not only for refractive surgery but also when prescribing glasses or contact lenses.

Bright Eye Clinic’s Triple Examination System

At Bright Eye Clinic, we perform more precise refraction testing through our Triple Examination System. Let us introduce the equipment that makes up this system.

Nidek ARK-1 (Automatic Refraction Test)

This device measures refractive errors in the eye and precisely analyzes the radius of curvature of the cornea. Using a 3D tracking system that automatically follows the movement and position of the pupil, it provides a more accurate calculation of the eye’s refractive power.

CANON RK-F2 (Corneal Curvature Radius Measurement Test)

This device measures the radius of corneal curvature to analyze myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. It also supports a wide pupil diameter range, providing essential data for cataract and corneal surgery planning.

TOPCON CL-300 (Vertex Power Measurement Test)

This device precisely measures the power of the lenses currently in use to determine whether they are suitable for the patient’s eyes. Based on various lens data, it calculates the most appropriate spherical correction for each individual.

Comprehensive Eye Examination and Eye Health Management

At Bright Eye Clinic, all types of refractive correction are possible through refraction testing using advanced devices such as Nidek ARK-1, CANON RK-F2, and TOPCON CL-300. In addition, with university hospital-level diagnostic equipment and facilities, we perform approximately 50 types of detailed eye examinations to carefully detect even corneal and retinal diseases that may lead to vision loss. We encourage regular ophthalmic checkups to help maintain long-term eye health.
