Ophtec Chairman Eric Jan Worst visits Bright Eye Clinic Gangnam
On November 27, Ophtec Chairman Eric Jan Worst from the Netherlands visited Bright Eye Clinic Gangnam to observe the globally recognized technological capabilities of Korean ophthalmology and to conduct research exchanges on next-generation presbyopia correction and cataract treatment.
What impressed Chairman Eric Jan Worst the most was the unparalleled level of technology and medical systems, incomparable to those of other countries. Unlike in Europe, where vision-correction surgery typically requires at least two weeks, he was surprised to experience Bright Eye Clinic’s system, which allows the entire process to be completed in just one day. This led to an extended period of questions and discussion.
In the meeting that followed, Chief Director Hyuncheol Cheon offered his insights—based on many years of performing surgeries on patients of all ethnicities around the world—on the future direction of presbyopia lens implantation and his vision for cataract treatment. He also provided valuable consultation to support the advancement of Ophtec’s optical technology.
Chairman Eric Jan Worst, who came to Korea solely to visit Bright Eye Clinic, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the visit and stated that he hopes to continue joint research with Bright Eye Clinic in the future.
Bright Eye Clinic, which has received the world’s highest volume presbyopia lens implantation award for three consecutive years, dreams of enabling people around the world to enjoy a clearer life through vision correction. Through this research exchange with Ophtec, we were able to see how much we have progressed and feel that this dream is not far from becoming a reality.
Bright Eye Clinic will continue to invest generously in procedures and technological research, advancing the development of presbyopia correction and cataract treatment technologies without pause.
